Christianity – Beliefs, Growth (include how and reasons for growth), & Roman Persecution/Treatment of Christians
To the Romans, their religion was one of the most important parts of their lives. Every place they went there was some type of monument to worship a certain god. The Roman religion was a mixture of different religions gathered from multiple colonies and tribes. A man named St. Paul took his teachings of Christianity from Asia Minor and Greece and shared them with Rome. The first people who wanted to believe in Christianity were the slaves and poor. If they were caught failing to worship anyone other than the Emperor Nero, they would be killed. Despite the consequences more and more poor people began to worship Christianity, but in order to do this they had to use underground tombs as a secret meeting place. When the Emperor Constantine was crowned, he made Christianity legal and churches were built all over the Roman Empire. Later on the worship of other gods (Paganism) was made illegal. (Truman, Chris.
